Because zinc and titanium dioxide are harmful to nature only in nanoparticle size, Jaakonsaari says that Alga Maris series products are fully allowed in Hawaii as well.

If you want to avoid those physical filters for natural cosmetic-quality sunscreens altogether, you can get mild sunscreen from karanja- or coconut oils. Due to the variability of sunscreen in these natural oils, they should not be officially declared sunscreens. From the point of view of skin protection, it is safest to choose a natural cosmetic-quality sunscreen, with a tested protection factor.
