Nigella seeds come from a blue flowering annual plant Nigella sativa, which grows to around 20 to 60 cm tall. Nigella has been used as a seasoning and for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. Its warm flavour is said to be slightly reminiscent of pepper and oregano. It is excellent, for example, for bread, salads, protein-rich dishes and for making curry powder. Seed size: 1-2 mm. Storage: At room temperature in an airtight container. Allergens: Produced in a facility that also processes nuts.

Nigella sativa seeds have been used for thousands of years as a medicine, and in western countries the extract of nigella sativa seeds has been noted to help regulate blood glucose levels.
