Abrasiveness is measured by the RDA value (Relative Dentin Abrasivity or Radiotrace Dentin Abrasivity), which has an international limit value of 250 RDA. Many dentists think this is too much and the RDA value should be less than 100. Unfortunately, the RDA value is not indicated on all toothpastes, so checking it can be difficult. Brushing technique, the brush and e.g. consuming acidic drinks just before brushing also affect tooth wear. Ecodenta's whitening papaya toothpaste has an abrasion value of 140 RDA.
